TreatDAO’s 2021 Highlights + Roadmap

Happy belated New Year to our amazing content creators, DAO members, and anyone who is reading this for the first time. Here, we’ll be recapping the past year’s highlights and providing a glimpse into the future of TreatDAO. We’ve got a lot of exciting things in store for our community, so read along to get up to speed with our progress and plans for the future! Before we get to the exciting updates, here’s a recap of how we got here:

TreatDAO Origins

One late Thursday night, Crypto Twitter influencer Ashtoshii received a message on Twitter from a random simp requesting her CashApp. The simp tells her, “You look good so I’m gonna TREAT you” and sends her 1$.

The DM that launched a thousand ships

While laughing about it, Jebus911 and Ashtoshii decided this would be the perfect moment to create a token on the Binance Smart Chain Network.

March 5th — $TREAT Token Launches

$TREAT is distributed early in the morning of March 5th, 2021, with a fairly distributed airdrop. Anyone who filled out the form in the public telegram chat @TreatDao1 is allowed an airdrop of 734 tokens. $TREAT had a total of 1,000,000 supply, with 6% of the supply allocated to a dev fund. With approximately 1,250 people receiving the airdrop, $TREAT is live and available to trade with community-created LP on PancakeSwap.

March 23rd — Platform Launch with First “Treat of the Week (TOTW)”

It does not take long for a few talented members to get a working NFT platform up and running with a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) approach. The platform launches on “” with a curated drop featuring the beautiful @0xAlena2, a well-known Crypto Twitter influencer. The community had decided to develop an NFT platform embracing both Safe for Work (SFW) and Not Safe For Work (NSFW) content on the Binance Smart Chain. And the first drop is a great success, with sales over $20k USD. Treat is off to a great start!

Periodic curated drops continue the Treat of the Week series and bring in some incredible creators who become invaluable to the project’s development. Feedback from creators and users consistently drives decisions on new features within the platform. The team is proud to include devan, Soph, and Maddie Springs, who all found Treat as creators first.

Soph spearheads efforts leading to the Bali Drop, generating awesome professional content from a group of gorgeous models showing off Treat merch and their own assets in an exotic location.

April 12th — Transfer NFTs

Development continues in exchange for bounties from the treasury, building out essential functions like transferring NFTs. Team members also kept the TOTW series going and promoted each week’s content.

August 4th — Resale Marketplace Launches

The launch of the Resale Marketplace improves the Treat from a place to buy and hold curated TOTW NFTs to a more robust platform where NFTs can be sold over the counter and transferred. August 4th is also the Maddie Springs TOTW drop.

August 24th — Sweet Shop Opens

Having a more open and less curated marketplace was the plan from the beginning. The release of “The Sweet Shop” on August 24th is the realization of that vision. Now creators can drop their own NFTs after verifying their age in the application process on Content begins to trickle in, and that stream grows consistently over time. Currently, there are over 275 creators on Treat!

September 7th — Litepaper Release

What started as an airdrop and a fun community project has developed into a legitimate adult NFT marketplace. But it becomes clear that some mistakes had been made with the initial token and that some course correction is needed to be in a better position long term. With help from the team and the community, Jebus develops a litepaper describing the shared vision and proposing a relaunch of the token with more set aside for development and some tokenomics to assist development, marketing, and creation of liquidity for traders. There is also a discussion of DAO governance and day-to-day oversight (The first oversight council was put in place by DAO vote on August 25th). The litepaper is very well received by the community! On September 10th, the DAO voted overwhelmingly (98.78%) to move forward with the recommendations and create the second version of the token: $Treat.

October 1st — Treat Announces Subscriptions

The best is yet to come with subscriptions on Treat, but an initial version goes live in October. The new feature creates a space where all content is unblurred for subscribers. NFTs may be purchased and even resold, but they are blurred for those who do not own them outside the subscription area.

October 11th — $TREAT v2 a.k.a. $Treat

Executing the wishes of the DAO, the team launches a new token with an additional treasury set aside and improved tokenomics. The project is now prepared for long-term robust development and growth. Over the past several weeks, Treat hired several full-time staff members. Work is now moving at an accelerated pace in all departments. This endeavor has been a project relaunch, as well as a token migration.

November 1st to 4th — NFT.NYC

Marketing begins to ramp up. With the new tokenomics rewarding the treasury some for trading activity, it makes sense to get more eyes on the project. Treat DAO sponsors both NFT.NYC and DCentral Miami (November 30th and December 1st) and promotes with booths giving out NFTs, $Treat, and candy. Banner ads begin running on PooCoin. Additional Marketing staff is added.

November 25th — Farms

Farms are launched where investors can stake $Treat or $Treat/BNB LP and receive Melons. Melons are used to buy exclusive NFTs from the Farmer’s Market, which can then be sold on


Low liquidity has been a consistent concern. The new tokenomics creating LP from a 1% tax and the Melon Farm are increasing the liquidity of the $Treat token. Improved liquidity means improved buying and selling in greater amounts without significant price impact, i.e., not moving the price by 5% with $2,000 purchases.

Winter 2021/2022 — What’s Happening Now

Current Platform Development

The work never stops. Feedback from users and the Treat DAO community is received in a variety of ways, and the team works to prioritize improvements and additions to the platform. The Treat Creator and Treat Testing Telegram Chats have been particularly instrumental, and we are grateful for the hours spent trying to improve the platform! Our project management, organized into Airtable and Google Docs, is consistently improving. As a result, the platform is continuously improving.

Staff Improvements

One of the highest current priorities is adding additional developers to accelerate the work and spread out the work a bit more. Coding developers are needed most of all, but the team is also looking for support in other areas. It’s a great team of paid staff and volunteers who make meaningful contributions, but the team will continue to grow and we’re keen to have members of the community get involved!

The Treat development team is also appointing managers from within the staff to oversee Marketing, Platform Development, and Community Management. These paid managers will provide efficiency and stability as the elected voluntary oversight may change quarterly. Managers and all staff are always under the direction of the DAO.

Marketing Team Developments

Speaking of Marketing, Jon Reynolds has signed on as our new Marketing Director! He has been involved with the project since the beginning, both as an investor and as a contributor to the DAO. He’s been full-time in crypto for the past 5 years and is excited to contribute to this visionary project!

One of his main goals is to utilize the community’s networks to partner with experts in branding, marketing & promotions, Instagram account growth strategies, and more. The idea is to develop a more comprehensive marketing and promotional strategy, where we will put out regular updates from the team as well as marketing content, both paid and organic.

The initial test case for promotional content has been a single “How to Buy $Treat” video on YouTube, which has been completed. Getting through this process has proven to be a major catalyst for organizing the operations throughout the DAO, and now that it’s completed, we are in a much better position to roll out more frequent content.

Now that we’ve activated our new Instagram handle @treat.dao, there is a significant opportunity to get new users from IG- whether content creators or dao participants. Our IG is an essential and recently underutilized asset that has an immense capacity for improving our ability to generate inbound leads, conduct outbound marketing, and raise brand awareness in general.

In all things, the goal is to schedule as much content as possible to automate it for a consistent and professional “look” while being relatively pain-free to ship.

Treat of the Month (TOTM)

After a DAO vote approving the change, Treat will be changing the curated drops from weekly to monthly. A monthly promotion will attract higher-tier creators and will allow the team more time to generate a higher quality product. Promotion for these drops will be ramped up significantly and tied to a monthly publication with information about the platform and news from the NFT, DAO, and crypto spaces — as well as tips, tricks, and alpha for content creators looking to get ahead!

2022 and Beyond

DAO Communication and Governance

The group of $Treat holders and community members is growing, and additional effort will be put into communication about DAO activity as well as more active governance. Holders of 73,400 $Treat are invited to be a part of the “Melon Room” on Telegram, where a lot of development discussions are active. Discord and Instagram are expected to become more active going forward. The project is and will always be community-run, with more frequent direct input by vote as time goes on.

Legal Formation

There are many reasons to begin to create some legal entities to serve the DAO in various ways and facilitate ownership of assets and the ability to enter certain agreements. Discussions are ongoing with lawyers to determine the best operational path.

Platform Development Priorities

This is not meant to be a comprehensive list, but it does represent some of the near-term priorities. The team doesn’t release ETAs, but there has been a consistent track record of new development releases on a very steady basis.

are the main priorities for the platform’s development, but we are adaptive to changing conditions and opportunities!

Acquisitions and Strategic Partnerships

One of the strengths of a DAO is that there is almost unlimited flexibility in the strategies we employ. Discussions with potential partners are always ongoing. The token is not simply a utility token, $Treat holders will control expansion and partnership directly. Whitelabel implementation of the Treat platform or subsets of content from the primary platform might also be a natural path for development.

Major Platform Additions

As always, decisions on significant additions or changes will be directed by the DAO vote. There seems to be widespread enthusiasm to make Treat a multi-chain platform, and initial exploration is already underway. There are many options, so priority is being given to chains that seem like a good fit. These include chains that:

1. Are Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) compatible

2. Have a very active community of people likely to support our work

3. Provide significant direct assistance with building on their chain

Another area generating some interest is the possibility of expanding Treat into Augmented Reality or Virtual Reality. It’s not hard to imagine how some of this content could be fantastic in those forms.

Oh, the possibilities 🥵

Although the timeline for involving AR/VR is uncertain, we can be sure TreatDAO will have a significant presence as we go deeper into the metaverse. A strength of the project is its flexibility as a DAO to course correct and apply resources in the direction decided through consensus.
